An analogy to eliminate too much pressure while you chase your dreams.
Our evolving consciousness is ever changing. Because of that reality, we need to be able to remember the point of the old riddle, “How do you eat an elephant?” Answer – “One bite at a time.”
For those of us who have been through trauma or stress, for some who are in varying stages of grief, or those who are rebuilding some aspect of our lives… we run into the real danger of our mind trying to eat that whole damn elephant in one swallow. We are then so overwhelmed and frustrated.
For others, the truth is we are just tired of eating elephant. We want a dish served from some other menu. Or, we have a routine with a lot of pendulum swings and are tired of self blame instead of discovery. We then experience success to some degree, but when it’s time to change some stuff here or there, we are not nice to ourselves. I have seen people have to accept any number of realities outside of the way they saw life over the years. It usually turns out just fine.
Please keep in mind that no matter what elephant eating process you discover on your plate in life, you need the side dishes. You need the beverage… you need dessert. The fun, the joy, the love, the achievement all go hand in hand with the elephant, made up of changing the views, emotions or routines of our past.
You don’t need to eat a steady diet of self analysis elephant whole. One bite at a time, keep the other dishes handy…
